Understanding the motor and battery in 30 seconds
250 W
Power
This is the legal power limit in Europe: all approved electric bikes are rated at 250 W. So it is not what makes the difference between two bikes.
Nm
Torque, in newton-metres
The motor’s real strength: what pushes you when setting off and on hills, with the bike loaded. For a family cargo bike, aim for 60 Nm or more; 80 Nm or more climbs anything, even loaded.
520 Wh
The tank, in watt-hours
The size of the energy tank: the more watt-hours, the further you go. Actual distance depends on terrain and load — see the gauge below.

LightDemanding
Fine-tune with the slider: the load carried, the assistance used and the weather matter as much as the gradient.
Everyday city use
≈ 45 km
with 520 Wh
City with a few hills, intermediate assistance, one child or the shopping.
Why from green to red? The closer to red, the harder the motor works: hills, the weight carried, strong assistance, wind and cold all use more energy. The same battery that covers about 65 km in the green covers noticeably less in the red.
Indicative, rounded estimate for comparison: actual range also depends on the bike, the motor, the rider and maintenance. Describe your route to us and we will advise you on the battery and torque you need.
What do I need for my daily use?
Tell us about your use: the motor and battery you need take shape. The higher the gauges climb towards red, the more strength and range your use requires.

Understanding battery, motor and range
The battery = the tank
Its capacity is measured in watt-hours (Wh): voltage (V) multiplied by amp-hours (Ah). More Wh means more kilometres between charges, but neither more speed nor more power.
The motor = the strength
What matters is torque, in newton-metres (Nm): it makes the difference when setting off, on hills and with children or a load. For an electrically assisted bicycle, European law limits power to 250 W and cuts assistance at 25 km/h: maximum assisted speed is therefore the same for all; a higher-torque motor reaches it more easily, even when loaded.
Range = your use
With the same battery, range varies a lot depending on the assistance level chosen (from Eco to Turbo), hills, the weight carried, average speed, wind, tyre pressure and cold weather, which reduces capacity.

Le Petit Porteur e Longtail
Cargo bikesElectricTwo wheels
The most compact longtail on the market (176 cm) in its electric version: 250 W / 80 Nm mid-drive motor with torque sensor, 520 Wh battery, lights wired to the battery with a brake light. Two children at the back, cargo at the front, mudguards and double kickstand as standard.
The original compact carrier in its electric version: 250 W / 80 Nm mid-drive motor with torque sensor and 520 Wh battery to tackle any climb, even loaded. Large frame-mounted front rack, 20-inch wheels, hydraulic disc brakes.
Quite possibly the shortest longtail cargo bike on the market: 176 cm, carrying two children at the back and the shopping at the front. 20-inch wheels, CrMo 4130 steel frame, 9-speed Microshift drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes. Also available ready to electrify (E-Bike Ready) or as a frame kit.
The original: a cross between a BMX and a cargo bike, lively and light, with its large front rack fixed to the frame and a very low centre of gravity. 20-inch wheels, CrMo steel frame. The version to choose between 1.70 m and 1.90 m. Also available E-Bike Ready or as a frame kit.
The most compact of the family: 5 cm shorter than the OG, saddle from 75 cm off the ground, designed for riders from 1.50 m to 1.80 m. A remarkably stiff frame, 20-inch wheels and the same front rack as the OG. Also available E-Bike Ready or as a frame kit.
