The DOUZE LT24 has been updated to suit every family. Its low step-through frame and lowered centre of gravity carry up to two children or 80 kg of load at the rear with remarkable ease. Fitted with the Shimano EP6 Cargo mid-drive motor, it offers smooth, natural riding.

Understanding the motor and battery in 30 seconds

Power

This is the legal power limit in Europe: all approved electric bikes are rated at 250 W. So it is not what makes the difference between two bikes.

Torque, in newton-metres

The motor’s real strength: what pushes you when setting off and on hills, with the bike loaded. For a family cargo bike, aim for 60 Nm or more; 80 Nm or more climbs anything, even loaded.

The tank, in watt-hours

The size of the energy tank: the more watt-hours, the further you go. Actual distance depends on terrain and load — see the gauge below.

Why from green to red? The closer to red, the harder the motor works: hills, the weight carried, strong assistance, wind and cold all use more energy. The same battery that covers about 65 km in the green covers noticeably less in the red.

Understanding battery, motor and range

The battery = the tank

Its capacity is measured in watt-hours (Wh): voltage (V) multiplied by amp-hours (Ah). More Wh means more kilometres between charges, but neither more speed nor more power.

The motor = the strength

What matters is torque, in newton-metres (Nm): it makes the difference when setting off, on hills and with children or a load. For an electrically assisted bicycle, European law limits power to 250 W and cuts assistance at 25 km/h: maximum assisted speed is therefore the same for all; a higher-torque motor reaches it more easily, even when loaded.

Range = your use

With the same battery, range varies a lot depending on the assistance level chosen (from Eco to Turbo), hills, the weight carried, average speed, wind, tyre pressure and cold weather, which reduces capacity.
